I am planning to buy a new phone, but want to make sure that you type Japanese characters on it. Supports Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6 preinstalled input Japanese characters, or should I download?

Depending on the manufacturer of the phone. WM5 and WM6 support both the substitution and input, but it depends if the manufacturer or not.
